MUKHAPUTA (The Cover Page)

India, 2009, 120 min, Digibeta
In Kannada (English subtitles)

Written and directed by the well known Kannada actress and dancer Roopa Iyer, Mukhaputa is an emotionally charged film and utilizes the talent of children in orphanages and living with HIV.

The film is set in a small town in South India, where a socially responsible educationally oriented traditional woman adopts a young girl and later realizes that the child had HIV from birth. The story centered around the child and a few of of her underprivileged friends, depicts the challenges faced by the child, her family and the society. It showcases pre-conceived notions that society has towards patients with HIV and how children and their family are coping with life. With very positive messages the film reinforces the strength needed to grow against all odds.
