Welcome to Indian Visions. Our love of Indian films, as well as the growing interest in and demand for quality Indian cinema in Washington, DC, inspired us to create this film festival. Our vision is now a reality and we look forward to sharing our love of Indian cinema with you this year and in the years to come.
-- Sukumar Srinivasan, Executive Director, Indian Visions

Indian Visions opens a window into the world of Indian cinema. This groundbreaking effort is aimed at highlighting the best of Indian cinema.

The selection of films is a smorgasbord--from the recently released new version of an old classic, NAYA DAUR (1957); to VANAPRASTHAM, directed by the acclaimed film director from Kerala, Shaji Karun; to the National Award Winner AMU, directed by Shonali Bose; to the exquisite DOSAR (2007), directed by Rituparno Ghosh, one of the leading directors working in the field today.

To mark the 60th Anniversary of the Independence of India, we are screening Shyam Benegal's greatly sought-after, but rarely seen, masterpiece, BOSE: THE FORGOTTEN HERO, as well as the recently released, hotly debated GANDHI, MY FATHER, directed by Feroz Abbas Khan.

We are delighted to present the DC-Area Premiere screenings of NISSHABD, sensitively directed by Jahar Kanungo; and PODOKKHEP, a tender story brilliantly directed by newcomer Suman Ghosh, with internationally acclaimed actor Soumitra Chatterjee.

The focus of the festival is to draw attention to the thematic richness, the linguistic variety, and staggering diversity of cinematic styles embodied in Indian cinema. Please join us to celebrate our Utsav .
